Design Process
-
1. Initial Consultation
We’ll meet to talk through your ideas, aspirations, and any practical needs for the garden. This is our chance to understand how you envision using your outdoor space- whether for relaxing, entertaining, or creating a family-friendly area.
Deliverables: A clear brief outlining your goals, budget, and design preferences. This helps us set the direction for the entire project. We'll clearly set out design costs in a fee proposal.
-
2. Site Survey and Analysis
We’ll visit your garden to assess the existing features, take measurements, and analyze things like soil, drainage, and light exposure. Where appropriate we'll commission a full topographical survey. This is key to making sure our design works perfectly for your space.
Deliverables: A detailed site analysis including notes on any potential challenges or opportunities (like sunny spots or privacy issues). This will guide our design choices.
-
3. Concept Design
Based on our discussions and site analysis, we’ll create a design concept. This includes 2D and 3D imagery, rough sketches and moodboards that illustrate layout ideas, planting themes, material palettes and other key features.
Deliverables: 2D cad concept drawings, 3D cgi rendered images, precedent images and moodboard visuals to help you imagine how your garden will look and feel. We’ll review these with you, so you can share feedback and make adjustments before we proceed.
-
4. Detailed Design
Once the concept is approved, we’ll develop a more detailed plan. This includes precise layouts, material selections, and details of elements like pergolas, outdoor kitchens, pools and water features. We'll also recommend pots, planters, garden furniture and accessories.
Deliverables: A final 2D cad master plan (or general arrangement plan), and a bill of quantities, with all the details you need to put the project out to tender. You’ll have a clear view of how everything will come together.
-
4. Technical Design
This is where we create the technical drawings and detailed specifications needed for the construction of your garden. These will include precise details on materials, levels, drainage, and any structural elements or unique features, to ensure the build runs smoothly.
Deliverables: A set of construction drawings and technical specifications that will guide the contractors during the build phase.
-
6. Planting Plans
We’ll create a detailed planting plan and itemised plant schedule, carefully selecting plants that will thrive in your garden’s conditions, while delivering the atmosphere, style, colour palettes, and seasonal interest that you're looking for.
Deliverables: A comprehensive planting plan showing exactly which plants will go where, and a plant schedule detailing sizes and quantities. Moodboards will help you clearly visualise the plant selections.
